The second long distance race proved quite similar to the first: light air and blowing from the wrong direction, plenty of current and several boats retiring early.
The course took racers downstream to mark #60, outside the entrance to Martin Slough, and then back upriver. Raven was race committee and shortened course to mark #73. Mo-B-Dick, Barnestormer and Sleazy Dog were able to finish. All other competitors retired.
Sleazy Dog finished at around 6:00 p.m. and shortly thereafter a lovely north wind filled in. Had we all just sat on the hook through the light air, we could have had a downwind ride home!
